"As defined by the Census Bureau, the Southern region of the United States includes 16 states, and is split into three smaller units, or divisions: The South Atlantic States, which are Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia (plus the District of Columbia); the East South Central States of Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi and Tennessee; and the West South Central States of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas." - courtesy Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Southern_states#Geography
If you are from one of these states, or just enjoy the writing styling, history, recipes and more from these states, than this is the group for you. As we get to know one another, we can plan regional retreats. I encourage each state to create their own smaller group too - Like I did with NC Writers. The Rules: Articles submitted should have a theme from one of the states mentioned. You may be in Boston, but have your Grandma's famous pimento cheese recipe - a southern classic - it's okay here! But your Boston cream pie, while yummy, does not belong here. You may be from Atlanta and write a story about a NY City detective. While you are a southern writer this is a theme based group. People come here for southern themes. So keep your southern themed works here only! Make sense? You may post articles about getting to know you as a southern author, and in those articles, you may post links to non- southern themed works on Gather or elsewhere. Any questions, just let me know! All right now, Ya'll come on in and make yourself at home. Bring in your best work. I know it's gonna be great! Group Tags
